Rūta Levulienė’s painting exhibition „In the Fresh Air”

From April 5th, the V. K. Jonynas Gallery will exhibit the painting exhibition “In the Fresh Air” by artist Rūta Levulienė. The exhibition will feature the artist’s paintings, in which the author, through her sensory and pictorial expression, reveals the relationship between nature and man, explores the feeling of fresh air and what it means to us. The paintings explore the connections between nature and man, spaces, and their intersections. Man’s distance from nature is shown through the fragmented space of the painting and the figure in it.

“R. Levulienė’s creative style can be treated as a consistent and programmatic observation of the environment, as an intuitive and intentional attempt to capture the changing natural reality of time and space. The most important thing for the artist is to reveal the impression born from the changes in nature. Here, both the objects created by man and his own figure change together in a harmonious system.” Prof. Dr. Remigijus Venckus.

Philosophers, who see aesthetics in their works as the axis of thought development, can distinguish painting from all products of human culture as a document proving the visual presence of natural beauty. Changes and even elements can be justified through cultural objects (i.e. works). Not only the thoughts of philosophers, but also R. Levulienė’s painting shows that art completes natural reality and even gives it a meaning of existence. Perhaps a bit too bold, but it can be stated that the artist R. Levulienė is characterized by a certain impressionistic approach of the present. It is noteworthy that the impressionistic approach is not what the artistic movement of impressionism is; it is a creative principle of observing and depicting the world. At the center of impressionistic creativity is color (but not absolute imitation of reality), association (but not naturalistic rendering of forms); all this is also characteristic of R. Levulienė’s painting. Here, the modeling of form is determined by the purity of the stroke, the ratio of color and light. The specific impressionist approach is determined by the ability of subjects and objects operating in reality, clear structures and implied (or imagined) forms to interest a receptive and creative mind. Therefore, we can partially say that painting is born from wonder.
