The exhibition “Between Inspiration and Discipline” reflects Vaidotas Vankevičius’ creative journey, full of inspiration and discipline, which is necessary in order to never stop improving. The painter is inspired and fascinated by the environment around him, the people he meets, the art of painting and traditions. The exhibition displays portraits, interiors, still lifes and landscapes done live in one or two sessions.
Vaidotas Vankevičius is a representative of the realistic painting movement, specializing in portraits, landscapes and interiors. Vaidotas painted only live, from nature. A direct connection with the object being painted is extremely important to the artist, therefore he does not use photography as an auxiliary means of performing his work.
Vaidotas’ creative path is guided by his calling – he strives to be the most promising contemporary master of realistic painting in Lithuania, to revive the current of realistic painting in our country and to supplement it with new winds.
Exhibition opening – April 1st at 4:00 PM
The exhibition will be open at the Druskininkai Museum Gallery (M. K. Čiurlionio St. 37) until April 30th.
